Patient Testimonials

"About 8 months ago, my back began to hurt. Within 2 weeks, I could not sit or stand. I spent most of my days in bed. I was seen by 3 Doctors for pain. I was given pills for pain, but nothing helped. I was told that nothing could be done for me and my last option would be to have medical surgery.

For 7 months, I didn't have a life. Then, I thought about a chiropractor. For three weeks, I thought about this option. After doing some research of my own, I decided to call Dr. Kerner's Office. In just a few days, I had my first appointment. We went over my medical history and I had my first examination. That day I was given my first treatment. Three days later, I had my second. Not soon after, I noticed that the pain in my legs was gone. I was able to walk around the house without pain and I am able to go grocery shopping.

From a scale of one to ten, my pain was a ten. Now I can say my pain in my back is now a one and I have no pain in my legs.

Thanks to chiropractor Dr. Kerner, I have my life back."

"Dr. Kerner is GREAT. I pulled my back and he saw me immediately, and did a fantastic job. Highly recommend!!!"

"I have been seeing Dr. Kerner for close to 8 years and can't say enough about the alleviation of symptoms provided by this skilled chiropractor. I recently was involved in a traumatic auto accident, saw several doctors and none were able to assist in alleviating my pain until I saw Dr. Kerner. It was like a miracle and he's a miracle worker."

"Chiropractors have always made me nervous in general...I just really don't enjoy the whole thing about having someone else in control of your neck/back and the such.

After I tweeked my neck a couple months ago, it was not getting better. Dr. Kerner assured me that everything he did was totally specific to me and my body and what I have experienced.

I saw him for several weeks, had a bunch of adjustments, and am pain free. For me, it was a gamechanger. I'm fixed, feel good, and pretty much over my fear of chiropractors. Thanks again Dr. Kerner!"

"This guy is great. I had a back problem for at least 10 years and have seen many people who have not been able to help me. I went to his office, his staff were exceptionally nice and cordial. It took several treatments and some work on my part but after about 10 weeks my pain finally started to go away. The office is really cool and warm and receptive. I know that there has to be a certain chemistry between a practitioner and the client and not every doctor/chiropractor is going to work for everybody."

"I am a nurse and for the last 5 years I have been suffering daily from great lower back pain to the point that I couldn't step my right leg!

I also couldn't find a comfortable place for my neck and as a result my neck muscles were always tense. After an x-ray at Dr. Kerner's, we discovered that my cervical vertebrae had lost totally their curve!

Last but not least, after a fall I had from my bike 4 years ago I have a chronic injury in one of my shoulder's muscles, which I discovered with an MRI. This made it difficult to raise my hand and I couldn't even drive in reverse by extending my right arm!

In Europe, we do not have many chiropractors so I was unfamiliar with this technique and bacame accustomed to living in pain. My husband recommended Dr. Kerner and after 2 months of regular visits I now feel no pain in my back, my neck finds its correct place by itself and feels much relief and for the first time I can turn to the right side while backing the car without pain. My shoulder problem hasn't been totally solved, because the muscle is torn-but I have less pain.

In the beginning, I couldn't imagine how chiropractic could help me. But now for the first time, I do not need injections and creams and I am very thankful to my husband and to Dr. Kerner."

-Eirini K.

"Thank you so much Doctor Kerner, my back was so stressed and hurt so bad that I was afraid to be manipulated... but after your wonderful treatment I am almost totally relieved and pain free.

I will highly recommend you to my students."

"I visited Dr. Kerner during a period of excruciating back pain that happened on the first of the year. He put me on a program of regular chiropractic visits combined with stretching, exercise and supplements. I am now virtually pain free while continuing regular maintenance visits.

Dr. Kerner is the best chiropractor I've worked with- coast to coast. He is attentive, concerned, intuitive and I've recommended him to friends."

"I walked in to his office about 2 months ago, after suffering an injury during some rigorous exercise that left me hunched over and barely able to stretch. He promptly had me fill out the requisite forms, and then walked me through the condition via x-rays and a variety of diagrams detailing what exactly the problem was, and how we were going to go about fixing it. (He even quizzed me to make sure I was paying attention-thankfully, I passed).

This all may sound rather routine for those who have been to a chiropractor, but speaking as a person who had never been to one (and I was admittedly skeptical), I was blown away not only by his attention to detail and professionalism, but his "passion" for his work, and that genuine feeling that this is a person who really cares about every single patient that passes through his door.

Dr. Kerner gained my trust immediately, and I'm glad I read the reviews here before finally settling on going to his office. He's totally upbeat, authentic, and sincerely cares about chiropractic care and helping his patients feel good. He'll even work out a payment plan that works best for you--how cool is that?

After 2 months of having him adjust my big frame, I feel 10x better than when I walked in, and I can honestly say it's money well spent! I'll know where to go if I ever slip up during my workouts again!

-Michael J.

"Kerner Chiropractic is, by far, the best chiropractor in the business. Not only is he nice and attentive, Brian is a dedicated believer in holistic care. And let me tell you, I should know, I have been a client for nearly twenty years long before it was the thriving, fancy, shmatzy chiropractor to the Stars like it is today which is strange because BK's prices are reasonably affordable for a practice in the chic Union Street business district. So, I highly recommend Kerner Chiropractor for your chiropractic needs.

"I strained my back early this year and it never fully recovered. It turned out I had ruptured a disc at L3 L4 which caused sciatic. By May, the pain got to the point where it was debilitating-sitting, walking, driving, putting on socks, tying shoelaces and even sleeping became impossible. My primary care physician prescribed muscle relaxants and pain medicine, but I still only got 2-3 hours of sleep at night. When I called them back, they told me the earliest they could see me was in 2 weeks- they were cold and impersonal.

I have always been active- from playing rugby in college to running in the NY marathon-but for the first time in my life I began to feel like my active lifestyle was gone forever. I was literally on my knees in pain when I called Kerner Chiropractic. Dr. Kerner was able to see me that day. After 3 visits in the first week, I began to see improvements. Dr. Kerner even called to check up on me at home. I finally felt like someone understood what was happening to me, cared about me personally and could help me get better.

I told Dr. Kerner that I wanted to be on his wall as a success story someday. Well, after 2 months of treatment, consultation and following his instructions carefully, I am writing this testimonial. I am hiking, biking and sleeping sound at night again. Dr. Kerner matched his treatment and his approach to my physical condition and tolerance levels- the treatment was very conservative and very effective. The whole team at Kerner Chiropractic is friendly and caring- they made all the difference in helping me get back on track and I know they can help you too.

Thanks Dr. Kerner, Erica and Kathy!

"I came to see Dr. Kerner after 5 months of being diagnosed with lumbar radiculopathy or (a bulging disc) in my back. I was in such pain from the disc pressing on my nerve down my right leg. I couldn't do the things that I enjoyed like walking, hiking or running without pain. Everything would aggrevate the nerve so bad that I couldn't sleep.

A friend told me to go see his chiropractor. I really did not think it would help me. I tried everything from pills and stretches, cortisone injections and nothing was giving me relief. I was told by some Doctors that I would need surgery if the disc does not heal.

Well, I started seeing Dr. Kerner for 6 weeks, 3 times a week. I took every advice from Dr. Kerner from bed rest to time off work to warm salt baths. Now, I can enjoy all my activities free from pain.

I never missed an appointment. I went every week, even with flare ups, but I hung in there. Now, without surgery, I can enjoy everything (pain free).

Dr. Kerner seriously has a bed side manner that kept me going. Erica at the desk is so welcoming and calming. She is really sweet. Even Dr. Kerner's wife, Kathy, is nice. I'm thinking what are these people on? Their spines are straight- that's all! I can't thank them enough!

Thanks Dr. Kerner, Erica, and Kathy

"I have suffered from migraine headaches for as long as I could remember, and have sampled almost every over-the-counter remedy available without success. Over the course of the past several years, I consulted several western medical doctors about my headaches, each of whom proposed different drugs for me to try. When one drug did not work they would simply prescribe another. After months of unsuccessful drug sampling, they threw up their heads, and talked about the 'mysterious nature of headaches'.

Several months ago, I was referred to Dr. Kerner by a friend who spoke highly of him. I was hopeful from the first visit, when Dr. Kerner took a great deal of time to explain the logical connection between the alignment of the spine, nerves, and headaches. Within the first month, I felt an appreciable improvement in the frequency and severity of my headaches. This is particularly amazing to me since I began seeing Dr. Kerner at the end of my last semester of law school, a particulary stressful time. Despite the stress inherent in exams and bar review, I am happy to say that the benefits I have experienced from seeing Dr. Kerner have continued; I plan to incorporate chiropractic care into my life regularly."

"I was recommended to Dr. Kerner by my trainer when I injured my groin running. I not only couldn't run anymore but it was painful to walk at times. Dr. Kerner not only helped me to run pain free again, I saw results within the first 2 visits.

He is friendly, approachable and incredibly concerned with each patient. Erica at the front desk is super friendly and they are very accomodating to busy schedules. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kerner & Staff and also the powers of chiropractic- I honestly believe it has improved my running & kept me healthy through the flu season :)

I have done physical therapy with only limited results and the pain/injury comes back--I will never go back!

I came to America in late November for a month-long vacation. When I arrived my back problems came back to haunt me. Instead of letting my back problems ruin my vacation, I decided to take action. When I first went to see Dr. Kerner my back problems were so bad I couldn't run, take deep breaths, sneeze or even yawn without being in severe pain.

He was very personable and made me feel at ease and after only a few visits I was feeling better. I could take deep breaths and sneeze with a lot less pain. As the treatments continued I felt better and better. Now at the end of my treatment and vacation, I feel brilliant. My back is pain free. I can now run and play sports again with absolutely no pain."

Thank you so much for putting me on the road to recovery. When I met you in April of 2009, I could barely bend down to tie my shoes without flinching. The pain in my lower back was so severe that I stopped my regular activities such as hiking, swimming and bike riding.

To my dismay, I found out through your thorough examination and from the aid of x-rays that I am suffering from subluxation degeneration to the degree that bone spurs had formed in my cervical spine along with a reversed curvature of the neck.

Today, I am "back" on track. I am enjoying my favorite physical activities without pain. I know that the subluxation degeneration has not been resolved but I know that I am on my way. The treatment and coaching that you have provided has helped me achieve a better quality of life.

Again, thank you, Dr. Kerner!

P.S. Thank you, and Erica, for accomodating my hectic schedule.

How have I managed to neglect one of the most important men in my life?

Yes, the chiro.

I am young and healthy, but too much time at the computer and years of running, ballet and gymnastics led me to Dr. Kerner's office this fall. In two appointments, he had diagnosed me...but more importantly, helped me feel MUCH better!

I continue to receive weekly chiropractic care and I wouldn't be without it! Dr. Kerner is friendly, explains everything in good detail, and has a great staff to help with scheduling and payments. His office is very central for the Marina/Pac Heights folk and I enthusiastically recommend giving his office a call to see how chiropractic care might be able to help you!

I've always been a believer in chiropractic care, but I didn't know how much I believed in it until I really needed it. I've seen a chiropractor off and on since I was a child. But in 2008, I developed an autoimmune condition known as Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, a similar illness to Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. This condition mostly attacks all of my major joints from neck to shoulders to hips to knees, and even ankles, toes, wrists and especially fingers. This constant and chronic pain left me feeling like I was in perennial fatigue. I was so weak that I could barely get out of bed in the morning, when stiffness and pain were at their maximum. I could not do basic things like hold a job, exercise or play sports. Going for a short walk brought me to the point of exhaustion. I've seen many doctors, whose only answer was to prescribe me drugs--either prednisone (a corticosteroid) or methotrexate.

I began seeing Dr. Kerner in December of 2009 when I was feeling at my weakest and lowest point, exhausted and depressed not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well. He put me on an aggressive treatment plan where I saw him three times a week for three months. Very slowly and subtly, I began to feel less pain and more energy. I actually found the energy to get and keep a part time job. I began to exercise. I was feeling well and so we decided to take the adjustments down to twice a week. I believe the chiropractic care I received was a large part in my overall recovery in combination with the medical treatment I received with my rheumatologist. I'm happy to say that I'm completely off prednisone now, after being on the drug for more than a year.

Dr. Kerner is a wonderful practitioner and the care he gives is thorough, gentle and complete. He is also very flexible to work with your own personal budget, insurance, and schedule--allowing you to have a chiropractic plan that is customized and easy to fit in your life. His staff is also outstanding in their customer service, always friendly and professional.

Thank you Dr. Kerner for taking such good care of me these past eight months! My only wish is that you could move to the East Bay with me. I would highly recommend Dr. Kerner's chiropractic care to anyone!
